The setting for the festival since its creation, the Château de Fontainebleau is once again offering many educational and cultural activities in connection with the program dedicated to animals and Portugal.
The animal has always had a special place in a royal castle. A permanent source of inspiration for artists in the service of sovereigns, he was considered the symbolic embodiment of power. It then imposed itself in the decorations of the castle in the form of an exuberant bestiary of real or imaginary animals. Beyond this emblematic dimension, the taste of kings for their menageries tells us, through specific places and architectures, of the relationship between man and the animal kingdom over the centuries.
It is this story that the festival team intends to tell the public, through an educational and cultural program of visits, artistic initiations, concerts and exhibitions leading us to discover these “kings of animals, animals of kings.
